LITERACY TUTORING
"Learning made magical"

As a 25-year educator, I know that a relaxed child learns best. We work hard to fill our children's lives joy, but sometimes the learning process gets, rocky. My goal is to offer high quality academic support in a whimsical and engaging setting- for young people (and their guardians).
The studio space where I hold tutoring sessions sits in a quaint garden surrounded by a butterfly meadow, sensory gardens and whimsical topiary. It's home to a friendly group of kitties who enjoy frequent visitors.
During Literacy Sessions, we pause to listen to the birds, we take a moment to play with a kitty, we laugh...and we learn.
*If your child has allergies or is not a fan of cats, we hold our sessions in a non-cat log cabin. We also elevate your child's reading and writing skills, build their confidence and prepare them for a life of robust literacy.
During sessions, guardians are welcome to stay, enjoy the garden or color/paint/read/work on a puzzle-take the hour to relax.
I offer a few options for your child:
1:1 Literacy Tutoring: Storybook Kitty
1:3 Literacy Tutoring: Storybook Squirrels
1:5 Homeschool Group Tutoring
Each option is booked in 5- week Blocks
1 hour/1 day per week or
2 hour/2 days per week
Whichever you choose, the lessons are tailored to your child's specific needs. Reading, Writing, Fluency
Kitties (like Kiddies) are unique and sensitive beings. Some cats enjoy a rousing round of energetic activity and some prefer peaceful play. Some kitties like a bit ofdistance and other are full snuggle bugs.
Understanding how to adapt and engage with all animal personalities provides an opportunity for learning and serves as a natural source for lowering stress and offering companionship.

About Me
Hello! I have been Program Director and Lead Teacher at The Jefferson Center for Preschool Children for 17-years. I've taught public school, private schooI, online
and I was a homeschool mama.
Recently, I completed my High Impact Tutoring Credentials from Arizona State University demonstrating my ability to facilitate tutoring sessions inclusive of five critical components: equity-centered, culturally-sustaining, relationship-based, engaging, and data-driven and I am currently working on my Art Therapy certification.
I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and began my career as a Middle School Language Arts Teacher (6th and 8th grade) in the public school system.
In the last decade, I have been an on-line tutor most recently with On Your Mark Education, working with children K-2nd grade to support their literacy.
I also run a Sensory Garden and offer horticultural experiences for folks age 5-85!
I've been growing flowers professionally since 2017 and know the benefits of time in nature.
My daughter is currently in her Junior year at Loyola University, Maryland. We homeschooled 9th -11th grade and loved the freedom and flexibility in education that experience afforded us! I am here to support whatever academic path best suits your family.
I hold all required clearances to work with children and maintain updated CPR and First Aid certifications. Sessions are held at my garden in a dedicated Studio space.
I can accommodate a more formal classroom setting, if that is preferred or a combination of both.
